About Me

     Bella Maori is a California native born and raised in Los Angeles. She is a fiction screenwriter, novelist, actress, and a Ph.D. candidate studying Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Women's Studies and critical focus on Black women's identity in media, film, television and professional work environments.
 Bella is a social justice activist for women's rights, animal rights, homeless people’s rights, racial injustice and a community leader for marginalized groups. 
 She has published viral articles for Viva Lifestyle & Travel, wrote a film noir feature length screenplay for her MFA thesis, and directed a short film, The Disillusion of Pretty Butterflies, about social media's psychological effects on Generation X  and Millennials self-esteem.
     In, 2020 she wrote and directed a webseries pilot about how colorism in Hollywood oppresses black women's identity called "Ugly." The pilot won 7 festival awards in 2021-2022 for categories ranging from: the Best Writer of Festival, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best TV Web Series, among other international recognitions from festivals  m.imdb.com/name/nm2394.
     In, 2019 and 2021, her paper South African Women's Voice: Renegotiating the old Colonial Narrative Under New Terms was received with favorable reviews at the National Women's Association Conference NWSA where she served as a panelists.
    In 2022 Bella Maori’s essay, Empowering Black Women’s Identity in Private and Public Sectors of Professional America was accepted to The National Student Leadership Diversity Convention.  Bella has a Bachelors of Arts from California State University San Bernardino, an Master of Fine Arts from Full Sail University , and a Masters of Teaching from the University of Southern California. She is a member of the Epsilon Sigma chapter for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. She currently resides in Southern California..
